Mate, that's a BIG help !
It's what I suspected for some time but was hoping that I was wrong.
OK, yes I agree with you, I'll leave it at the original bands as I don't have any pressing need to expand the VHF range.
Pity I didn't know the 420-520 version would not go to 400Mhz with the...
Something doesn't add up...
I popped in to the thread again to see if any new info was around.
I saw a few more links to files and some updated stuff from Wouxun. So I've done about another two hours worth of trying out the unlock softwares here, still with no proper results.
Sure I can make...
That's what seems to happen with the later firmware versions sold, mine does the same.
Though I did just hear that there is now a version that does the J-07 versions properly. If anyone finds one newer than the image posted above please let us know.
benering, are you 'sure' it's actually working on the extended frequencies at all ?
Mine works fine on the display, but in reality receives nothing and sends nothing when 'out of band' by so much as a kHz. That was with the original FW posted. The newer one does not even read the original bands...
Yes, that's right. On my J07 version it reads all band values as 9999's. So something in the position or format of the band information in the firmware might have been altered. Hopefully the clever guys who wrote that software will be able to crack the changes and update it for late model owners...
I'll try it out. But I have been asking around elsewhere too, and have now been told that J07 is a significant change, and will need a new version of the band software to match...
PS. Tried that new version. On my J07 radio it reads out the current band as all 9999's what does it do on yours ?
Both bands. It has never broken squelch in either band when I dialed up a lower or higher frequency than standard. I put in plenty of signal and got no response. In TX the sig indicator just flicks across for a millisecond or two then vanishes.
I just ascertained from the back S/N that mine has...
Yep me too (as my post above). I setup a frequency generator and a power meter to test with. Nothing, although the dial says all is OK. Like the VFO is not programmed right, just the display section.
Anyone know how to display the firmware version ?
My KG-UVD1P arrived today and I tested out the software mod. While it did read and write the new band limits, the radio won't actually TX or RX past the original limits (I checked with a power meter and counter).
The factory lower UHF limit was 420.000Mhz and I reset that to 400.000Mhz...
"The front end seems very sensitive, and even with the foreshortened rubber duckie it comes with, it outperforms the RX on my [Very Well Respected Manufacturer]'s HT out of the box."
Yep, I tested one belonging to a work friend and it showed a 12dB SINAD at -124dBm on both bands ! Given the...
