It happens to me all the time with other locals. We have multiple portables down here on 38lsb and the other day I actually passed one and we could only talk for about a mile while all of skipland kept coming back to both of us for the next 1/2 hour as we got further and further from each other...

That is why I love being portable. In the 75 or so miles I travel around all day the area the DX rolls in from constantly changes so I am never stuck with any agitator for very long. I can't imagine being trapped all day with some of the folks on 38lsb, that seem to be around 24/7...

I listened to 41 go on for over 20 minutes without letting off his key multiple times today. maybe trying to keep his shack warm..lol He was plugging my ears something fierce. It worked out for me because I went up +30 and caught multiple folks in Europe on my first call.

You need to put that thing on 38-LSB and call out CQ-DX with your numbers until you get a reply. I'd probably try 37LSB and 39LSB as well if that doesn't work out pretty quickly. You should have no problem making contacts with that rig if it is on frequency and you don't sound like Mickey Mouse...

When the band is open, if you can't jump on the two channels above and below 38LSB and make a a few DX contacts swinging only 12 watts, your antenna is broken. -305portable, Miami.
