Sorry, I lost my cool last night. Since I doubt I'll be able to find an easy way to ground my mirror mounts, should I just return the two K40's and buy a magnet mount Wilson somewhere down the line, or might I have SWR problems with one of them also? I don't do any high-speed driving (usually)...
I've been having a horrible day. Went to R Shack, they didn't have (or know) shit about CB antennas. So I drove 100 miles out of my way to the only halfway decent truck stop around. No Firestik II's, no Francis, no Wilson, etc. The only kind they had whose name I recognized was two 4' Predator...
I'll be darned, I've never heard of a pre-tuned antenna like that, almost sounds too good to be true! I'm still in the process of learning more about antennas and achieving optimum SWR, but I always thought tuning was kind of vehicle-specific because of varying mounting heights and stuff...
Thank you all for the additional replies. Yes, as specified in the first post there is a nylon washer between the mount and the stud. I do not have a tire rack on back, otherwise that would be an excellent idea. I think I will have to do what Audio and Towerdog said and put a swivel type mount...
Hello all,
I've got another CB set up in my big rig, everything is ready to go except the antennas. It's set up with co-phased coax and a mount on each mirror. The mounts on the mirrors are a little over 8' apart. Where the antennas go into the mounts is about 106" off the ground. I've heard...
Thank you folks for the additional replies. It's actually on a 2nd generation Toyota 4Runner, otherwise if it were a pickup the bed idea would be great. I've always been told and came to believe that nothing can beat a 108" whip for perfomance, so I almost feel dumb using anything else, but at...
Thank you for the welcome and your reply. If I fabricate a little metal bar to extend it out another 6-8" do you think that will potentially solve my problem?
Hello all,
Been lurking here for a while but haven't had a good enough reason to post until now.
I have a Galaxy DX 959 peaked and tuned by Screwdriver/Bell's CB that is hooked up to a 102" whip with a 6" spring. I've had a CB radio and a 108" whip on just about every vehicle I've owned...
