    Icom ID-880H: Thoughts/Opinions?

Not sure what mic problem you are talking about. The PTT switch seems to be the weak spot on the HM-133 mic. I have had one fail but the repair was easy. Bought a new better switch and replaced it.

    Ic-2820H diversity reception

I have an IC 2820 in my truck and I'm not sure if thats a feature that I would ever use in a mobile application. If anyone has any good mobile applications for it I would love to hear them. I can see it being a decent feature as a base unit. I mainly bought the 2820 for the crossband feature.

Suggestions for my first 2 meter rig

I would buy a dual band radio if I was you. I bought a 2M radio and realized I should have bought a dual band. The icom IC-208 is a decent price and its a dual band radio. I have 2 of them and they are nice little units.
