If you get it, do yourself a favor and get the YAESU MH-59A8J remote mic. It makes mobile operation so much easier.

    Which Mobile Antenna Set Up

Beautiful truck! My initial thought was thought was to go with the twins, but the more I look at the truck I'm thinking #1 ...or a 102!

Now, can the circuit supplying the voltage to pin 6 handle the load... Love to modify, hate to fix!

The 6 pin is hot. I've wondered about stepping it down to 10volts to power the mic instead messing with a 9 volt battery. It would have to be done in the mic so you could still use the stock mic as well.

I'd be more interested in dropping the 13.8 down to 10 and powering the RD.

No. Mine has been great. I use the stock most of the time and it's been holding up pretty well. I've only had it for a few months though.

I can understand that! It's obviously an issue and I hope they get it corrected. I really like this radio and wouldn't mind seeing more radios based off this platform.

You don't use 2, 4, and 6 so you might as well yank'em.

Yeah...after reading some of your comments about it, I tried it out and it is there for sure. The only time I really notice it though is when it's on the bench mounted at ear level...very faint.

I'm sure you'll like it. Before you wire the mic, push out the 6 pin. That way you never have to worry about it causing any problems. I just went ahead and removed the evens...

It works fine. Audio is pretty good, but in my opinion not a big enough improvement to give up my channel controls. I do have one fairly noisy car that the RD is a must. My talkback isn't really an issue either. It's barely audible when off. I don't even notice it when used as a mobile.

Not a big fan of the red as well... The mic works, but personally I prefer using the stock due to the channel buttons. If noise becomes an issue I throw on the RD.

The plug is the same. Just wired a mic for mine using the plug from an rci mic.

Mines on the way too. Hopefully it's included.

    So I have a 2995DX on the way . . . . which amp?

A little off topic, but does the 2995DX come with the "e-chip" in the box or do you have to purchase it separately?

Pretty Cheap For A "NEW" Yeticom Optima MKII

No CW. $250 sounds pretty good. It was $375 delivered when I was checking into it. I'd most likely have the optima right now if I could have got it for $250.
