    Looking at new amps.

I am perplexed as to how some of these class c amplifiers can put out that much power.... that box must be splattering all over the intended operating frequency. My 8 srf3662amplifier does 1000 watts peak. How is your 4 pill making 750w?

Can someone tell me how to locate the am mod limiter on this radio? I want to know if mine has it removed or not. Thanks.

Texas Star DX1600 - Impedance Matching

I forgot to say that I also reworked the feedback circuit to match the typical 8 pill amps.

Texas Star DX1600 - Impedance Matching

Alright guys. After my last post I started experimenting a lot. Drilled a hole on the roof of my truck and mounted the Wilson 5000. Bonded every body panel to the chassis. I was still getting the relay chatter I was complaining about. I solved the relay chatter by rewiring the keying circuits...

Texas Star DX1600 - Impedance Matching

This Texas Star DX1600 came from the factory with one 3A and a 10A internal fuse; whereas my DX1600 came with two 3A fuses. ....but then again, according to the specs for the amp, if it is supposed to put out no more than 5W RMS then the 3A fuse that mine came with should not have been an issue...

Texas Star DX1600 - Impedance Matching

I think there is some confusion here. I've never put a fuse on the power line from the battery. The 3A fuses I was talking about in my initial post are internal to the amp.

Texas Star DX1600 - Impedance Matching

My Texas Star sweet sixteen DX1600 has two internal 3A fuses. One of those fuses, the one that goes to the power switch is the one that was getting blown. Prior to the fuse getting blown, the relay had a lot of "chatter??" (sounded like being keyed and unkeyed very fast). The fact that the 3A...

Texas Star DX1600 - Impedance Matching

The DX1600's output is mated to a Wilson 5000 magnet mount with the factory coax cable. A 4ft jumper cable is in between the 2970n2 and the amp. Current is supplied by a mechman 370 A alternator :) :) The amplifier's CW crystal board has been removed; hence, I assume the amp has been converted...

Texas Star DX1600 - Impedance Matching

    1. My brand new DX1600 blows the power switch 3A fuse depending on its output power. It seems that its starved for current. I upped the fuse value to 5A and that seems to not starve it as much although if I talk louder into the mic (driving it harder) the relay chatters a lot (like a trrrrrrrrr)...

    Problems with NEW RCI 2970n2..

Well, I complained to Ranger and they sent me a replacement 2970n2 :) .....it still had some touchup paint on the bottom heatsink...not as much as the one I initially bought tho.

    Problems with NEW RCI 2970n2..

Alright, I was able to adjust all the gate voltages Vg on the 6095BR board. All the adjusting points are basically next to the finals and driver :) My voltages were way off. Driver set at 5.1V and finals at 4.6V and 4.2V. Finals were tricky to balance with VR11 and VR12. On the PA side, one...

    Problems with NEW RCI 2970n2..

I just got my brand new 2970n2. Upon opening the box I saw a small screw wedged in between the foam and the cardboard. I opened it up, installed the e-chip, turned the radio on and attempted to key down into a dummy load. The radio at first would not key up. I thought the mic was bad so I...
