Okay, I got it! The ground and shield has to go together, on pin 1. I kind of figured that, all along. Hopefully, this will help someone else in the future, since the op in the other thread, on this subject never posted whether or not he got it working. Also, big thanks to Yeti, for the help.
When you say ecm, you mean electret condenser ? Assuming so, Yes, they have 2 models, the hmm and the hmm-ic. I am noticing something though, it says for the hmm "dynamic ic". and for the other "electret ic". Hmmm.

First, thanks for helping. Yes, I'm aware of the receive wire, I just hooked it up anyway. So it needs phantom power even though its a dynamic mic element ? What about the PTT ? It won't even key up. Also, its not the "ic" condenser mic. I guess, I should have stated that.
I'm having a problem wiring a heil hmm to a 2970n2 and I'm hoping someone can help me. I can't get it to key up so it's something with the PTT, I guess.
This is how I wired the mic:
Pin 3 - Red - Transmit (PTT)
Pin 4 - Black - receive (Ground)
Pin 2 - Yellow - Audio (Mic)
Pin 1 - Shield -...
I did it! Center slot... I had to do the rest of the alignment, as shown, in the service manual. One thing I noticed though, the usb tx frequency response is lacking low end compared to lsb. Thanks to everyone !!!
Well, I Can get it aligned properly at ch 19-20 usb and lsb center slot however, when I go to ch 36-40 it's way off. Why ? I guess, I'll have to figure out what has been done to this radio in the past.
Thanks guys! I'll try again this weekend, unless I feel like doing it after work, some time this week. Thanks again and I'll report back on my progress.
I will continue to tinker with it. Thank you for continuing to help me, I really appreciate it.
I am using a lab grade frequency counter with a gps txco and a known Kenwood ts-870 with a TXCO that is on frequency with WWV and said freq. counter. Also, as previously stated I was able to get LSB...
Thank you for the quick reply!
I tried looking up the extended clarifier and didn't find too much. What if I wanted to leave it, could I somehow get USB on frequency ? I don't care that much if USB is not center slot however as it is now, after trying to align it, I still can't get it on...
I really hope someone can help me with this. The radio is a Uniden Washington. I'm having a problem getting the internal adjustment (CT3) to get the radio on frequency only on USB, I seem to run out of adjustment. Also, It seems VR3 ( TX frequency) doesn't work any more, I'm not sure if it's...
