After I swapped in the 13n10s and a new American made relay, the KL203 I have has been taking 7w and pumping out about 160w while remaining cool as a cucumber on AM. The original RM3 mosfets in that amp are garbage. Spend 10 bucks on 4 new fairchild 13n10s and a new relay and relax. I smoked...
It worked great. Made some adapters for BNC to PL259 and plugged it in. The 40-Niner was reading about 300mW, the Super Rockmite was reading about a watt and a quarter. The amp I built (that IRF840 diagram that claims 60W out) is putting out zero watts. Gave me the info I needed at this...
Is it going to be far enough off that the needle wont move? I have a few QRP rigs that put out 5w CW that could be used to calibrate.
Like I said I don't need any real accuracy, I thought the home brew forum was the right place to post this.
I have a ASTATIC 10/100w meter that was orginally designed for the 11m band. I have a better one for CB now, and would like to use this one to test 40m QRP amps and transceivers. Super accurate isn't important, I just need to be able to prove that I am making positive changes when I build or...
This thing works great. I have two of them but can only use one at a time so one has got to go. Adjustable gain, really adds ears to your base setup.
I've seen these at swaps for around $80.

Just hooked up a 29 LTD WX to a mag mount antenna stuck to a file cabinet. Zero receive on the 139. I'll try to find a pinout diagram for the 858 and check that lock pin.
This is probably a really dumb question but I'm still learning so forgive me.
Do the Driver and Final need to be installed to receive? both are currently unsoldered and sitting on the bench next to the radio.
Turned on my AR1000XLT to 27.215, put the cobra on 21AM, and clicked the key on/off while dragging the antenna around the entire board. Nothing there.....
EDIT: Still trying to figure out what I possibly could have done to an otherwise working radio during a recap. C94 was the only one...
I did the resistance checks forward and backwards between the legs. Basically all the legs are conducting to each other without any power to the unit. The site I was reading the check procedure indicated that if the transistor failed that preliminary test, there wasn't much point in testing...
How about 2SC2312 for driver and 2SC2166 for the final? This thing will have a low-drive afterburner on it so I'm really not worried about lots of power.
Yup, while doing the resistance test for NPN transistors, it became apparent that both are at least partially cooked.
Should I do a mosfet conversion or Swap in the countless SC2078's leftover from mosfet conversions in Co29s? What can I use for a driver? I still have a few NTE152s
Driver (C1306):
Key ON Key OFF
B 0v 0v
C 9.23v .02V
E 0v 0v
Final (C1307)
Key ON Key OFF
B .66V 0V
C 9.23v 2,0V dropping slowly to 0v (?)
E 0v 0v
Something don't seem right here......
No luck finding the burnt trace around C94. From what I can tell, it has a pretty short run to it's pads and those connected to them.
I did fina a burned trace where the pink/white wire from the mode select switch, it appears that it was only connected on one side of the pad where the...
