    Cobra 29 wx nw st receive issue

    Recently aquired this radio. People talking further away come in just fine. However anyone within 2 miles sounds very distorted, and anyone closer than a mile is just a loud squeal. Only thing I know about this radio is the previous owner said it was peaked and tuned. Any ideas what the issue is?

    Thanks for the input guys. I do traffic control and I don't think it would be enough radio to get out over the truck drivers. I use an old realistic trc 449 currently was just looking at it as a backup radio

    Anyone ever use one of these? A local shop sells them and the guy swears they are better than a cobra 29, but I'm just not buying it with the tiny size.
