Great story Alexis! The MM3 Was my first base antenna back in the late 70’s.
I bought this one brand new in the box about 10 years ago and just started using it recently.
I love the old classics.
A few pics of my NOS Antenna Specialists Mighty Magnum 3. Flat across the band and talking skip across the pond 15 feet off the ground with 100 whiskeys.
Have to be careful, these will fry with around 300 watts.
Supposedly green Mark 3’s are pretty rare. A friend of mine actually talked to Gar Green (the president or something of Browning) he said it was a bad batch of paint they got but they used it anyway because they had to be frugal. He said out of the approximately 30,000 mark 3’s made, maybe 300...
I have an original 2547 with Mitsubishi finals.
I turned up the modulation VR inside the radio and run the rf power out at 2 watts. With a D104 the radio sounds amazing. One of my best sounding radios. Very loud and very clear audio, I love it and get nothing but compliments on its audio.

Very old thread here but which way does the diode get installed? It says banded end to the right hole R194, but which way is the radio orientated to determine the right holes?
Thanks !
Can anyone tell me the microphone wiring for this radio. The current microphone is also the speaker but the radio has an external speaker jack. I want to wire up a different mic to this radio. Thanks for any info!
Why would the modulation meter on a 2000 be swinging when transmitting on SSB? (With the switch set to MOD) every 2000 I’ve seen including mine, the mod meter does not move when talking on SSB. Thanks
It’s made in 96 in China. A Chinese with a side mic. I believe they were made in the Philippines before they went to China. I’m not sure when they went to China. Does anyone know?

Its 27.125. Good old channel 14. Maybe it was marketed as communication between the farmhouse and a tractor. Maybe it will have better modulation than my Utica Town and Country 3. NOT! lol.
This one has me stumped. Never seen one before. And what is that little doohickey sticking out of the top of the case? Looks like maybe an attachment point for a whip antenna? Anyway for the price I couldn’t pass it up for the collection.
Been running this mint hand wired D201 I picked up about a month ago. It’s amazing. It had all original Tram labeled tubes with the exception of the Sylvania modulation and final tubes.
I’ve replaced all the Japanese made tram labeled tubes with NOS tubes that I prefer.
Audio Monster.
I’ve never seen another such copperish colored element. This is in the head of a NOS in the box, non amplified G stand I bought. Anyone else ever seen one?
