    MIKE OF MIKE'S RADIO REPAIR

Not a wife, but a girlfriend...I had that happen once with a girlfriend and mistress. I quietly exited the situation before they pieced together what was going on. I figured it out when I got a crying phone call from one girl saying her roommate kicked her out and she wanted me to get her a...

    Vintage Radio Shack MURS radios

I've had all the Rat Shack MURS HTs over the years. Anything with a metal belt clip is decent. The latest (probably 20 years old by now) PLL design, with more rounded case and plastic belt clip, had nearly useless CTCSS decode and front end wide as a barn door. Any strong signal within +/-...

Anyone seen a tube tester like this ??

Looks like a Knight kit somewhat. Never heard of Olson, thank you for sharing that!

    CB FM and PL

The HR2510 and I believe 2600 has CTCSS capability, also the HTX10 and 100 I believe. I spent some time in that area at hunting camps, 25-30 years ago, hours down logging roads near Caribou, Portage, and once up near Fort Kent. Good times. Some guys from the Worcester, MA, area owned land up there.

    Just read this

I didn't realize that, I was thinking from an amateur radio point of view. Thank you.

    Just read this

I did look at it. The article is all over the place, first it says the issue is illegal modifications, then it gets into programming. The FCC citation itself only mentions programming. I thought it was illegal to transmit where you're not licensed, not to possess a radio that is programmed...

    predator 10 k????

I concur. I have the 27" one. A friend has a shorter one. I also swear mine is more resistant to static and junk on receive. FWIW, ran mine installed on the center of the roof of a 2002 Explorer for years and never had any issues. Antenna never got damaged and never took out any trees or...

    predator 10 k????

I purchased mine directly from the guy who makes them, he is on CBradioforum, his name is Kale, I don't recall his user name there.

    Baofeng Tacticool Antenna

That page and images are all forked up on my screen! Is the antenna "tactical" or "cool" or both? My military service spans several conflicts and we used everything from the old PRC77 "tape measure" type antennae, to normal Motorola (EF Johnson) VHF high band rubber ducks back 15 years or so...

    Interesting find

At 3GHz??? The "mobile" devices better have high-gain antennae...though it would be easily achieved even without something protruding, as a cell phone does. Hard to get a picture of what they have in mind; this reads to me more like a pilot program for commercial use rather than ordinary...

    Sir Mix-a-Lot a.k.a Prime Minister

Skip was insane that day here in the northeast, I had my beam pointed at TX but was receiving as far west as CO off the side. Should have checked the NW!!!

Rarest cb / export you’ve owned

    1) While not very difficult to find, I have a Superstar 3900 Turbo ZX in gold. It's very similar to a Galaxy 88 and is one of the best exports I've ever owned. 2) Virage VX68. For sake of sharing with you all, just now I tried to dig up more info on the actual radio that I owned. All I can find...

    DOUBLE PL-259 CONNECTOR

Male to male? I had some cheap Rat Shack ones 15-20 years ago or so, that the center pins wiggled a lot. Odd. For just a little more cash I got something better, maybe not Amphenol, but functional with solidly-placed components. Female to female, never had a problem with something cheap.
