OK got ya. I'd like to hear what that sounds like. Sadly I am over the pond, in France, so that would be skip and timing dependant.
I have the CRT SS6900N (Same as the Anytone AT-5555 PLUS). The only complaint I have is that the OEM Microphone is sub-par by several notches. It sounds cheap and...
I am also inclined to tinker on my older and more road worn equipment but it would take a lot of convincing to make me swop out one op amp for another. The frequency response of the JRC4558 isn't any worse than the 4580, especially considering the radio only uses the 300Hz to 3kHz range for...
Your problem is solved in 5 easy steps:
1) Put everything into a baggie.
2) Put Baggie inside rig and close panels.
3) Send your rig to an experienced Tech with instructions to reset to standard.
4) Fork out the necessary $$ when Tech says radio can be collected.
5) Go home and enjoy your CB.
You must first check the voltage at the collector of the final transistors and its driver on TX in AM mode.
You can check this voltage on the board that jumpers the three test pints near the finals.
I suspect that it's going to stay at 12 to 13 Volts. (It should normally go to about 6 to max 8...
Looking inside the rig I'd betting it's Uniden. The PC boards have the same markings, the components likewise look to be from the same suppliers. Finally, the chassis number (PB-010) is a Uniden.
Not that important because both houses produced some great radios and the 360 is certainly one of...
Hi Enterprise.
Yes it's still a pretty well liked hobby here. Sadly I don't speak French all that well so I mostly have comms with English and German speakers. Luckily there's enough people in Europe that are multilingual.
I've just picked up a cheap Superstar 360, which was marketed in the...
I'd like to thank all those who contributed useful information on how to "Get 'er done", for those old CB's that can enjoy a second life after their 2SC1969's failed.
It may simply be a matter of semantics but I'd say going from a defective CB to a functional one counts as an upgrade.
Yes, I...
Hi Everyone.
I am a long-time CB user, originally from South Africa, now living in France.
I trained as an Aircraft Radio Tech and now do private tinkerings on all kinds of radio equipment in my secret underground lab.
I found this forum when looking for information on refitting burned out...
