    I was looking at tge carl built 1x4 amp which I'm guessing may be pushing the limit of rg58 so maybe I will swap to 142. I ran it in another pickup and has been fine so far.

    Channel 19 mostly. 1 got 1.6 on 1 and 40. 1.55 on 19. Used an anritsu sitemaster over the span of channels 1-40. I still want to span out more and see if its lower somewhere else outside the band.

    I'll have to span out further on the test equipment and see what it looks like. I too had to cut a couple inches off the whip. So far nobody has seemed too concerned that this swr would cause problems with the amp so that has eased my mind a bit.

    Because of the noise and vibration of the firestik. I felt the wilson wasn't like that. And I feel lower reflection would be better for the long term of the amp.

    I was more worried about the amount of power being reflected back to the amp causing damage to it. I had about 3/4 watt coming back at one point. Just thought that may cause some issues down the road. It'll never be perfect with 0 watts, just trying to get it around what the firestik was...
