TV Rabbit Ears = 2m Dipole

If you want a little more gain, try adjusting the elements into about a 45 degree angle (V shape). This will act like a beam giving you a little more gain over a regular vertical. :thumbup1:

    SWR readings way off

Using a Midland 23-134 meter good for reading swr up to 225 mhz and reading watts up to 148mhz. I use this meter all the time on my Icom IC-2100 and Yaesu FT-2400 2 meter radio with an Arrow OSJ Model J146/440 j-pole and it reads as it should (144.00=1.5:1 / 146.00=1.2:1 / 148.00=1.5:1)...

    SWR readings way off

The cobra is 4:1 and up on 1, 20 and 40 the radio shack is 1:1 on 1, 20 and 40 Could the external meter be giving a false reading for the cobra since the cobra has an internal meter? Remember the internal meter doesn't work so I can't set it.

    SWR readings way off

I have 102" of wire connected to the center wire for transmit and 102" of wire connected to the braid for receive. It's mounted horizontal about 8' above the ground. I didn't use insulators as I put it together rather quick just to experiment. The center wire and braid are not touching and the...

    SWR readings way off

I made a 1/4 wave (102") cb dipole using #12 wire as the elements connected to the coax without a balun or a choke. I have an old Cobra 29 LTD I tried to use with it. The SWR is between 4:1 and 8:1 and shows only 2 watts out (I know that's very bad). The SWR meter in the radio is not working...
