1/2 wave dipole vs 5/8 wave dipole

Vertical or horizontal? Horizontal won't make any difference, its the azimuth pattern that will change.
The 5/8 "dipole" is usually referred to a Double Extended Zepp. Google that and you'll find quite a few models for various bands. Here's one for 40, 20, and 15 meters:
