Today I was at Fry's electronics to pick up some connectors and they had a few antennas for sale for 2m/70cm. They had several antennas for HT's, one was a continously loaded rubber duck, the other some kinda lardge thing with lot of loading coils and the last one was what had to have been a 1/4 wave whip. It measured about 19". Umm, where is the ground plane and how will this preform without a ground plane. Also, supposedly it has 2.3dB of gain.
