13.8VDC 3-Amp Power Supply

I was just curious if a 13.8VDC 3-Amp Power Supply would adequately run a handheld - the vx-150 to be exact?

That should be fine. The radio draws 1.3 amps on high transmit.

Here is a quote from Eham-

"Yes, if you have a 2A-3A (or more) regulated DC power supply, you can most assuredly use that in lieu of the car battery to provide power to the mobile adapter, and use that to talk all day if you wish -- or at least until the VX-150 gets so hot you can't hold it! "

thanks for the feedback, I appreciate it. For some reason when I went to Radio Shack to get the 13.8VDC 3-Amp Power Supply - it was priced on the shelf for $41.99 but they sold it to me for $29.97 - so I jumped all over that.

If you don't have one, you might call Radio Shack and see if they're on sale in your area.
