130 amp power supply..decent price..what do you guys think?

This is a converted Dell PowerEdge 6800 server power supply. Generally they are good for about 112 amps from a standard 110v household wall outlet. Most people report no, or very little RF hash.

These average around 50-60 bucks on ebay right now.
Here's a video that explains the modifications that include the potentiometers.

Here's the link to a mega-thread on these conversions for this and many others.

Yes, they are loud. My research shows you can disconnect 1 of the 3 and it will still run, and then you can use a 1K potentiometer to slow the other two down.

For reference, I just scored a used one on ebay for $38 shipped.

If you want a slightly quieter PSU, check out HP Common Slot supplies (DPS-1200). One resistor to enable the power on and two big flat plates to attach to 12v. 1200/745/460 are the common ones.

The actual amperage @ 110 volts is a little lower than at 240v. If you want a clean connection for the common slots check out the bitcoin miners. They have breakout boards - http://www.gigampz.com - for example. Most of the common slots can only hit 13.2 volts however.

These definitely look like something I will have to do some more research into. But for a little modification and little $ you can have lots a current handy. As long as it's clean and it doesn't sound like an airplane taking off in my shack..
