142 gtl delay

when I turn on my 142 gtl has a 5 second delay to recieve even when I switch to USB and lsb.

Any chance it's a re-capped radio? Installing the wrong part in the receiver AGC circuit can do this. A capacitance value larger than the original will slow down the AGC.

Think I used 0.047uf 100v cap some where

If it only does this on sideband, and NOT in AM receive, have a look at C16. It'supposed to be 4.7 uf. If you find a larger capacitance value on that part, this would explain it.

If it does this on AM, that expands the list of possible suspects.

C13 should be a 0.1uf

C15 should be 2.2uf

And C17 should be 0.47uf.

If any of those three has a larger capacitance value, it will slow down the radio's AGC. Pretty sure that's what is kicking in when you change modes.

C16 had a 22uf 50v changed it to 4.7uf 50v very slight improvement.

I turned on my sig gen today and try alignment very low tone I think my recieve went down hill.
