148 GTL serial number (year?)

I have a Cobra 148GTL (Taiwan) (Dynascan) with the serial number: 83002665. Any idea what the year of production would be for this unit?

Open the cabinet and look at some of the transistors and ICs. Often after the part number is a manufacturer date code.

Find out when the ICs were made and it's a good chance the radio was built shortly afterwards.
