1st opportunity to try desoldering station (Yihua 948). I had a Lasko 42" tower fan < 1 year old that stopped spinning. I used the Yihua on one of the thru-hole PCB’s that needed attention. Have not cleaned the filter spring yet but nozzle sucked-up some big molten globs and cleared the pcb wire-holes faster & better than I could w/ braid.
2 new things: I got an original, 4 page loose-leaf, 3-hole color Eimac brochure for 4cx300a tubes from 1950's. In perfect shape but you can tell the paper is old. It has nice graphics.
Yet, it was the Fan that forced my next move. I needed a better everyday Meter. I have a good V measuring setup so I got an LCR meter: Hantek 1832c ($70 delivered & Orig Owner stated he only used it once, pics look mint. I read online it will accept the 1833 firmware upgrade. I’ll not play w/ firmware until I am more familiar with device. Some features are over my head and I’ve never a had meter this nice before. Always used a collection of cheap meters where I ‘take a consensus’ & estimate lol.
Still have not tried the Hot Air station yet. I’m still collecting all the stuff that goes with it.
