1st time posting on this forum. Want a 3000-5000 watt 12V to 120V power inverter for emergency use.

So brands and rating vs price are all over the place. What do I need to look at specification wise to make a good compromise?

Not running solar and it will not be the sole source of power or on a boat or RV.


I have a 10,000 watt generator but I hate to put all of my egg's in one basket.


The power source is a 2012 Ram 3500 with Cummins 6.7l diesel.

I basicly want it as a back up for my generator for power outages at home. My furnace and water heater are gas. My lights are LED. My stove is gas and I have 2 refrigerators and 1 large upright deep freeze.

I do not want the cheapest junk but I also am not looking for the best of the best either.

If you want to power anything with a motor or transformer in it, you'll need a pure sinewave inverter. That should narrow your field considerably. They ain't cheap, though.
Even "modified sinewave" inverters will cookum motors and transformers right quick.
