I can't remember. I used a 5v regulator to step the voltage down first. That way the resistor didn't have as much voltage drop across it. I'd have to tear it apart to see that resistor. If I did it again I might use a pass transistor and just make it adjustable.

That radio does not need a power mic, so purchase a stock "coffin style" mic with a decent cord, like the ones that Astatic uses.
