Hi,

First thing.. Make sure the PA button is not pushed in.

(Most common mistake)

2nd, Does it transmit - Carrier and audio? Does it show RX on the meter? Could be the RX voltage Switching transistor. Q127

3rd.. Check for C95 and C97, make sure that they are not shorted.

If so replace tham with the same UF value but 16 to 35volt caps.

4th, Make sure the audio IC does not get 'Real' hot, If so it needs to be replaced. Also check to see if its cracked (common) if so it needs to be replaced.

Hello,

Has anyone worked on this radio recently..

I had a similar problem and it turned out that someone had swaped a display connector on the Microprocessor board with a different plug,

Check J304 and J305 and make sure that they go to the right PCBs.

J304 goes to the Display PCB (PB-112)

J305 goes to the SWR / Switch PCB (PB-113A)
