2970 transmit Problem

I have an older 2970 amber display ,Well a few months back the frequency kept changing now when I go to transmit all that comes out of radio is nothing but total static ,listened with my other mobil while trying ito here any voice nothing but static I've read some post that this radio has a battery in it I tried finding it but can't locate it does anybody know where it is and what shape and color it is Thanks
