Hey Burb, I did what ya said line the camper w/chix wire. I got a 2db gain with the reflector in place.
I ordered a 14" top shaft from Kale so I could get the reflector antenna up 9 inches taller than the Hot antenna. The original ones I could only get 5+ inches. I think the 9" on the reflector antenna is the magic#.
Tested it with a friend(Falcon 1-81) that was 25+ miles away on a base. First test was with the Hot antenna only I got 7db. 2nd test with reflector I got 9db.
