Open Radio, removing 2 screws behind battery compartment 2 screws at top and remove single screw on bat cover housing.

Holding radio face down top up prise up on right hand side pcb and lift clear. The rear of the button pcb containing the display now faces you.

Halfway down on the right hand side a block of numbers 1 to 4 and below them are the solder links that format the PLL for CEPT 40ch FM.

Remove all solder links by gently heating link and wiping away solder with soldering iron. Check with a continuity tester that all links are removed.

Reassemble radio and the display will indicate AM and channels will indicate 40A,b,c,d,e,f,g,h,i and L, covering 400 channels.

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
