430s VS. 140s

How do these Kenwood radios compare? If someone has used both maybe they can give me abit of an idea on how they compare. is one a better performer or are they about the same rx and tx wise? i'm using the 140 and love it but the 430 seems to go for a good price on ebay. I have a friend who might like to try a Kenwood and thought he might like the 430. Thanks for your input.

Just general commentary on buying Ham equipment on eBay: I have found that it is generally cheaper to just buy new stuff from HRO or equivalent. Especially when the purchases are over $100, because shipping is free.



In my experience the older stuff for sale on eBay tends to be:



1. Older and more cranky.

2. Less reliable

3. Less modifiable for general coverage.

    Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
