Does anyone know of a good 6 meter ssb radio that doesn't cost an arm and a leg ? Maybe a good starter set ?

Ron,

I was curious if you have decided or narrowed your list down for a 6 meter rig?

I was looking to buy a 6 meter antenna (Diamond 502 2 element yagi) but that will have to wait for now as my yaesu has been sent back for repairs.<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/mad.gif ALT=">:">

Thanks guys. Stu, no I haven't but I will keep my eyes open and if I see something I will go to those sights and check the specs as well as the eham reviews. Stu, sorry to hear about the Yaesu What model is it ?

Sounds like you don't care for 6 meter too much I have an HF rig 10-160, 2meter and 440. I am interested in the 6 meter for SSB. I have heard a lot of good reports about this band when it is open.

6 meter is VERY FAR AND FEW BETWEEN ,,,I have had my license for over 2 years now and have made a total of 4 contacts on 6 meter 3 were local guys also trying to make some DX and never did. They say that when 10 meter is open you can LISTEN on 6 and MIGHT get an opening,,,,which I did and didnt hear anything.

Save that cash and buy a radio accessory or a all band all mode that has 6 meter in it.

if you REALLY REALLY REALLY want a 6 meter rig look on ebay and find that Ranger 5054DX they are going cheap because people bought them and found out there is nothing there the 5054DX is the exact same board as the 2950DX and same chassis as well,,,

most ebay ads will say,,,I USED THIS RIG TO MOSTLY LISTEN ON THE 6 METER BAND,,,,

THEY AINT KIDDING

I have looked at the transverters . I have a question maybe you can help me with. If you have a tech licence can you use a 20 meter radio to use for a 6 meter transverter and be legal since you are not speaking on the 20 meter band ?
