A few new tubes and no change, what next??

Hey all, I replaced several of the very weak tubes in the D&A Warrior 1000 with brand new ones I got for an unbelievable price from a friend here locally. There was no increase in watts. What do I check next? Also, two of the tubes I replaced were very dim, weren't glowing nearly as bright as the other tubes, and no change with the new tubes in those same two tube sockets (still very dim - not glowing as bright as the other 6lq6's). Any suggestions?, or do I need to get this thing into a tube tech??

Thanks, Hossless

Another "strange" thing, when I go to drain the tubes (touching the cap of the tube to the case of the D&A with a very well insulated screw driver), nothing happens, even when I have just turned the amp off and unplugged everything. It's almost like there is no juice at all in the tubes? Could it be a resistor or maybe a capasitor problem? I have looked at the bottom side of the amp and have found nothing that looks fried.

Thanks, Hossless

Sounds to me like your capacitors are bad. Had the amp been sitting for a while and not used ? If so the capacitors are probably gone. I would check the capacitance on those first. Back in the 70s and 80s when I ran a Phantom and a Maverick I know when you bled off the capacitors it sounded like a gun going off. If you need capacitors check with RF Parts in California, 1-800-RFPARTS. I hope this helps a little. Good luck,Mike.

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
