Well.....while on the subject of long range propgation.....
I ran into a site a while back, you may or may not have heard of it...but I thought I would share it just the same.
It is a "real time azimuthal map" generator. In other words simply put....it gives you a map of the earth with the pole set right on top of your HOUSE if you wish and the lats/longs stretch out and you can get a good idea of what is along the path for a given direction/heading.
A couple of notes:
1) to get my house as the center location I went to maps.google.com, found my house, and clicked on it. A little box pops up and at the very bottom of that little box, are the coordinates of your house. Pop that into the location box and you are good to go.
2) distance box - sorry, the site works in metric system and wants km. You can get it by putting (example!) 2100 miles = km in your browser search box and it will pop right up. Plug that into the distance box.
3) you may need to balance your distance with realism. If you MAKE it long.....it will still plot it.... but the resulting display will be so small that inaccuracy is likelier. You will have to "feel this out"!
Once you press the CREATE button it generates and returns a PDF file of your custom map. You can save it, you can zoom in/out on it.
I hope that it may help some of you.... or at least make you giggle a little!!!!
