Problem solved. I just cut the whip. I just got home from installing it on a friends house and he's talking all over with it now on skip. He likes it so far.

that's what matters in the long run . but some folks like splitting hairs . some folks like the challenge of negating losses and improving their odds and having that warm fuzzy feeling that their shit is right ! but all antennas have losses and all installs and locations are different . a great antenna in a really crappy location can only do so much but a ho-hum antenna in a half decent setup can seem pretty decent , particularly with a few hundred watts behind it . the further CB folks want to talk the more appealing a low TOA will be .
