At HF freq.s the loss from the extra connectors is VERY little. Many different ways/methods/opinions to seal the connection. I use a couple of wraps of electrical tape then cover the wraps with "Plasti-Dip" - (the rubbery stuff you dip tool handles etc.in) Works for me.

I call it Bandaid Kid tape

Yes, most Ham shops, or RadioShack sells it.. Works well, and removes with little effort.

Tar-like substance, keeps the 'weather' out 10-4?

I just relocated my antenna into a taller tree. I need to add an additional 50 feet of coax onto what I already have. I have been told that's it's not a good idea to add coax to an existing coax. I also heard that there was some type of tape that can be used to cover the connectors where the additional cable was added. Can anyone give me some advise on adding cable and if there is a special type of tape that can be used to wrap around connectors?

Any input on this will be appreciated.

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
