If someone would develop and market an adjustable sleeve for the 102" whip, that would go between the whip and the ball mount to replace the spring, I think you would have something. The whip would then be tuneable, instead of having to play with different size springs and coax lengths.

I think it could be engineered out of allthread, jam nuts and a threaded sleeve. Or has this already been done?

If it has - I want to buy one. <img src=http://users.joplin.com/dutch64804/posticon62.gif ALT=":62">

I have one I got at a garage sale. It was made out of a piece of stainless steel rod, about 3 feet long, bored down the middle for a stinger and threaded on the other end for a 3/8-24 mount.

It works ok and flexs little less than a standard 102 whip. I wrapped some coax seal around the area where the stinger goes into the rod to keep moisture out.

I seen these online somewhere but who sells em escapes me.

Re: Re: Adjustable 102

Mine adjusts similar to the one in the photo posted. It slides into the base and is held by set screws. Not nearly as heavy duty though. A fighting stick might work for this as well.

OK thanks 338, ask him if he accepts Paypal also, as that makes the transaction much easier, you can post on here or email me at subs757@msn.com

thanks

Coax lengths don't adjust SWR.

Coax lengths don't adjust SWR if your radio and antenna are 50 ohms.
It don't adjust SWR, even if there is a mismatch. If changing the coax length helps the SWR, it's because the coax shield is acting as part of the antenna system. If you had a tuner, then coax length matters as it can change the impedance (not SWR) to something the tuner can handle.
