Ameritron 811 problem

Well the amp is working. My buddy put 3 of his NOS tubes in it. Now it's loading up on 80, like it should. I still don't understand, why it wouldn't load up on 80 meters, but all other bands would, though. Tom Rauch told me the tubes were soft. I'm just happy it's working. It's going down the road.

Very very unusual that a set of tubes will work perfectly on all other bands except one. I'd like an explanation for that for educational purposes. Tom W8JI is a busy guy and sometimes does not read full explanations and jumps to conclusions with partial reading. Your initial statement sure makes it sound like tubes could be bad but then with tubes making full power on other bands not. I think you are making a wise choice for sending that amp down the road!

Incoming Region Produces X3 Solar Flare
    May 15, 2024 @ 14:55 UTC
Another major solar flare, but this time from an active region just beginning to turn into view off the east limb. It is possible that the group responsible is old AR 3654 from the previous rotation. The latest flare, an X2.99 event just peaked at 14:38 UTC (May 15). Stay tuned
