What would be the better amp for single final radios, one 2879 driving four 2979’s
OR two 2290’s driving four 2879’s?
Thanks for any thoughts on this.

straight 4, and another one pill 2290 driver if you want to push it hard. 2x4 is just ridiculous, that will self destruct in no time. 1x4 too touchy, not enough control over the thing. one box drives another, best and smartest way to go.

If you fancy sideband I would just drive the radio directly into a four-transistor amplifier. Would sound better than a setup with a driver amp. You just can't drive an amplifier as hard on sideband without making it sound sketchy.

And if you fancy seeing the wattmeter jump, that's mostly what a driver will provide. Odds are that anyone who hears you with a driver in line will also hear you just fine with the radio driving four transistors directly.

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
