The 959 in question has extra channel's otherwise its stock. Is there an amplified desk mic that matches this rig nicely?

This rig will be used on ssb only. If an amplified mic's not going to benefit the ssb audio is there an unaplified desk mic that will sound well on
ssb?

I will be using it strictly as a base.

This radio uses the standard mic wiring for Cobra, Ranger, Uniden, Connex and others. If you want a decent echo mic, the RF Limited 'Xtrreme2018' is an excellent choice. A D-104/TUG-9 is cool. Or even go hifi if you can dig it . . .

Good alignment, using a scope to set the modulation and stock mic non amplified works great on the 959.

The 959 as well as most galaxy line of radios have great audio just aligning them.

Power mic tend to over modulate and splatter ( most AM ops say this sounds good(n)).

When I had a 959, I tried all kinds of desk mics on it. Sadelta echo mic, Galaxy echo mic, D104, Turner Plus 3. They all sounded very good. So did a Red Devil, Xtreme 2018, D104m56b, Astatic 636L, and Turner RK-56.
