Currently, I'm running my Radioddity QT-60 with a Wilson 1000 magnet mount. Is there something else, magnet mount wise that would be better. I need it to be no less bandwidth than the 1000.

I'm gonna be using my little auto tuner. I was just wondering if some sort of Firestick type antenna might be useful. When I get my truck, then a steel whip is the plan. I just don't know what's out there anymore.

I had one of those. It was a decent enough antenna. My only complaint was it's very heavy. I was wondering if a center loaded antenna would help me.

My setup is actually OK, I suppose. The Wilson has provided a good match. The little cheap Chinese tuner is allowing excursions into 10, 11 and 12.

Hello,

I doubt the center load would help you in this case.
It is true that coil (position) can help (higher position is better), but it would be hard to tell the difference. Especially since the one you are referring to are helical wound and have a lower power rating. Power rating is a good indicator of how good the coil is... higher power in general means bigger coil which equals less loss.

For mobile antennas the most important thing would be height.
Longer is better... so stick with the long ones if you can.

The sirio 5000 series certainly looks like a good option.
Maybe get one of those triangular magnetic base mounts ?

Kind regards,

Henry

I had to use one with the big Sirio I had. I like that antenna, but it was so darned heavy. It tipped my trimag off in bank drive thru. I suppose I'll stay with the Wilson until I get a screwdriver antenna mounted. I wanted a roof mount, but I got a sunroof p prohibiting it.

Thanks for info of center load.

I use the Sirio 145 PL magnetic mount with my 5000 antenna. Never fallen off and I hit a lot of drive throughs and tree branches.

That's what I want. Just haven't found the right vehicle yet. I had an old Amazer in my barn. I pulled it out several years ago. It was brittle and cracked. Years of heat took its toll. I last had it on an old 1972 Datsun 510 hatchback. Loved that old antenna.
