I can get it to power on with two batteries. The red power light comes on and zeros show across the screen.That is all it will do any ideas???

I don't think this one will work with only two regular A, AA, or AAA batteries. I think it can also comes with a rechargeable batter pack, and then the unit might have to be set with a switch to the right function, and then allow time to charge up the batteries.

Read the manual.

they require 12v, or 8 AA batteries for starters. there is some alignment stuff that can get knocked out too
