So got the mount and the new 102” whip. Old one corroded on threads. Please see pics on antenna analyzer. Not sure what to do. Any help would be great.

K0bg has great info. Says why but does not say how to adjust. So if it’s 28.625 MHz resonance and want it at 27.205 MHz is antenna to long or short.

First of all you need to do your analysing again as you're analysing way too much bandwidth. You're analysing from 2MHz to 52.5MHz with a +/- 25000kHz scan. You need to only set it to scan +/- 500-1000kHz. If you do that and put up the same screenshots again it'll give a whole lot more meaningful information.

However...given it's resonant way up in the 10m ham band you need to lengthen it to bring it down to CB 11m. To raise the frequency of an antenna we shorten it, to lower the frequency we lengthen it.

The best mobile for TX and RX I ever used was the 102 in whip, Antenna Specialists heavy spring, generic ball mount. Driver's side rear quarter panel on 94 Forester. With the whip on it looked like a remote control car. SWR 2.0 or below all 40. Just left it because the SWR had the traditional curve. I ran barefoot not problems. I did try to improve the ground. i added a 9 foot counterpoise of RG 8X with the ground shield connected to a ground screw on the mount. It lowered the SWR enough to notice it, 2.0 to 1.8 that's all. I was only running barefoot, but the 102 inch whip even with not traditional acceptable SWR curve below 2.0 out performed any other antenna I have used on a mobile. Newer had it checked on a meter to see if it was resonant. I remember at the time that the way CB shop operator explained it and he added if its below 2.0 SWR leave it. It never hit me that you can adjust the 102 inch whip until I found this forum. I always thought if the SWR was above 2.0 on the big whip then something was not correct with the ground.

It’s a 10” whip adjuster Dave made from rfjunk. It will be nice to adjust the antenna. Hopefully going home after 2 months. I let them know that and they shipped it next day air. This project has been a great learning experience. The people here are amazing. I’m no electrician or don’t know much about this stuff. Kept my mind busy instead of sitting in the hotel room. Lots of reading. I’m a hands on person. Hard for me to read it and understand it.

Installed the whip adjuster. Had to cut about 3 inches off the bottom of whip.
1.50 swr

Phase 180 deg
Ohms 38 I know it’s not the 50 but this thing screams.
Thanks for all the help. I enjoyed every drop of sweat I put into this setup.
