I read a while ago that Magnum would be making a new line of mosfet radios, or radios with built in amps. Any one know or heard anything? :?:

It will be interesting to see how long the ERF's last and how well the 80 watt models do.

never mind the 175 watt versions that are being tested-- 7 mosfets if memory serves me-- seems like alot of drive on those 2030's-- its a strange configuration to say the least

ERF's are remarked IRF-520's. Very inexpensive Mosfet. I am interested in seeing the 175 watt unit as well.

Yea-- if it makes it to market-- 1 driving 2 driving 4 packed into that chassis doesn't seem right
--I don't think they have room for a big enough heat sink for that amount heat-- really curious how they are going to work out
The 80 should be cool-- I think we might be seeing alot of radios modded in the same manner in the future.
I'm just not sold on the 175 watt version, but keeping an open mind
Personally I'd rather have a cooler running radio and do the power externally

Had one of the new mosfet Magnum S9's on the bench today. NOT impressed. While it remains a loud, clear radio (if tuned correctly), I didn't see the levels out of it that I would expect to see out of the older version.

Most every manufacturer seems to be going to new finals in their radio's, so everything new out their is now junk then? They all try to cut costs as well, look at RCI and the 2970 now with 1446's. I sure hear alot of those junky Magnum Radios and junk X-Force amplifiers blowing alot of smoke and sounding super on the air no doubt. Their biggest problem is whenever they come out with a new radio it seems to take 6 months to work out all the issues. Every new radio will have bugs I guess, they should test them longer maybe like you did with the Stryker to try and minimize the problems.

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
