Great idea, Mike. I do the same with mine. I just invision me pulling the cable out of the radio. So this definitely makes me feel better.

Seems we all share the same concern. Mine is anchored to where I'll pull the whole cabinet down before the rj45 comes out.
the person who came up with the idea of using an RJ-45 plug as a mic connector on radios should be demoted. obviously they did it to cut costs and maybe space but c'mon. i will spend the extra $5 for the standard heavy duty 4 pin etc "foster connector" mic plug. it wont break the bank.

Amateur radios have had the RJ45 type connectors for years with mobile radios.
Seems the connector lasts better than the cheap cord material as I have had to replace several microphone cords due to the disintegration of the mic cords on several Yaesu products. Don't know about other brands, all my mobile radios have been Yaesu...in the HAM arena anyway.
