Astatic Road Devil

I'd like to know this mod too. I have a NOS black road devil.
Mine just came in yesterday, still in the box and never had a plug installed. The foam pad inside disintegrated once I pressed in it, I'd say it's a little aged. No biggie though, other than that it's pristine. Got it wired 4 pin and tested, sounds great! Other than what look to be better components inside and a better feel of the plastic no difference can be heard in sound. Kind of a novelty just to have.

Getting up the nerve to open Fibber McGees Hall Closet to find this microphone I’ve owned and only intermittently used.

Got home last night and leave tomorrow. One teensy little project will suffice (seeing if some TLC won’t fix this scratchy PTT switch).

Super Lube and CAIG De-Oxit standing by.

Once you upgrade to the better switch the scratch is gone for good. The new one I purchased earlier in the year acted up twice within a month, lubing the switch only patched it for days. Replaced to the better switch and used it several months without issue. It seemed to work well with the president flavor of radio. The link below for the replacement switch

Received awhile back. If install requires soldering, it’ll wait. No solder gun or supplies. Haven’t tried soldering anything since Dick Nixon was in his first term.

828,
Does the switch you got on sleazeBay seem to be of any better quality compared to the OEM?? Or does it revert to the same issue after awhile?

It's the original switch astatic used, it's far better quality and once you replace that cheap switch they use now the scratchy is gone for good. The lube fix for the ones made now only works for a week +/- depending on the use. I'm a constant keyer on the mobile so the replacement was a must.

Ha! Finally found it! (I live in a storage shed).

Built mid-2015 (bought it on road during 2016).

The NOS Astatic switch is going to get used another time.

Took it apart and found no misalignments, etc.

Now, back to truck.

Also found the D104-M6B and gave it same inspection.
Built mid-2014. Also bought in 2016.

Doing my best to get something done while home, but not so as you’d notice any real effort.
