Do this:
1: decide wether you have a volvo or a freightliner
2: Realize they both SUCK
3: get over it
4: connect some 2"ground straps to the chassis from the cab frame rail(s) {they both "float" the cab on rubber vibration isolaters and air bags} Leave enough slack to allow the bowl of gravy to wobble without pulling out the straps. The Mexicans assembling these things forget to ground the cab all the time.
5: make sure you have a quality ground from the ant. bar to the chassis (most dont) If your using a clamp on ant. bracket on the powder coated tube YOU HAVE VIRTUALLY NO GROUND.If your mirrors have internal mounting points remove the covers, string your NEW coax through the tubes from inside the door and use some good quality stainless Firestick bases on the mounting points at the top of the cast mounting plate replace the covers
6:ELIMINATE the factory coax from your system it is combined with the tv and am/fm ant. systems {can you say multiple ground/feedback loops?} BAD! and DONT use that "Road Pro" crap, get some quality BELDEN coax with some good PL259's and make sure the shield is soldered ti the sleev not just crammed in there with the jam sleeve.
7: ELIMINATE the power tap(s) from the fuse box and go straight to the batteries with a good quality fuse block in the middle. DO NOT use solid core wire.
