Recently a friend of mine gave me one of these $25 dual band radios. Haven't really messed with it much. I saw a secret menu people were unlocking. Mine will not do it and I noticed mine doesn't look exactly like any of the one I saw. So I am assuming that function was taken away?

Haven't tried Chirp. Like I said I really haven't messed with it much. I did download the Baofeng software. Guess I will check out Chirp.

I myself am not familiar with the UV-5K's (with the hidden menu) as coming in a Baofeng. I have a UV-5K (which has been widely reviewed here) - and it is a Quansheng.
