Missed this before.
A Uniden 885 is my go-to
default choice as big truck radio. Shown below with my 880 (enlarge for panel differences).
The rear is also different (more connections) plus it’s significantly heavier.
I may be wrong, but I’ve tended to think the RX is more sensitive (an alignment to each might eliminate this).
I tend to use it with CB-19 plus the simultaneous public service band operation. Other reviews you’ve seen have stated correctly it’s not hard to distinguish each from each.
I don’t have other mobile scanner experience with which to compare it.
If there are those who denigrate scanner performance or AM lacking SSB, there’s a limit on what one can do.
I’d welcome “more”, but this is an easy fit into a company truck.
