Been awhile: remind me how to adjust H/L power

With a Ranger radio with a variable low to high power control on radio, when you adjust the high the power control on board ( VR-15 ) if you set the radio variable knob fully clockwise, and adjust the high power control (VR-15) for a lower dead key, does it drop the dead key and AM peak modulated power both or just drops the dead key and does not effect peak modulated power?

On an early RCI29502970, it controls both, assuming the Mod Limiter circuit is still intact. The Variable Power control also adjusts the ALC on SSB, too. I can't say about the DX versions, as I have only had pre-DX versions 1st gen (battery backup CPU) and 2nd gen (Capacitor backup CPU) units, up until the year 2000.
