Browning Mark III

Hey NOMAD,
A few guys is telling me my Browning mark III sounds like it’s on side band on channel 20.
Could it be the Crystal for this channel?

A frequency counter on the radio's output will tell you if the crystal is off frequency for those channels. More to the point, how far off frequency.

Sometimes the "VFO" fine-tune knob on the front of the transmitter will correct the error, maybe enough to fix the problem. Again, a frequency counter is the only quick way to tell.

Drifted crystals are just a fact of life for a radio that's 45-plus years old.

Barkett still sells those.
