CAD 6000 Condenser Mic

I heard this station in central Mississippi today, and I couldn't help but to notice the quality of the mic he was using. I asked the operator what brand/model of mic he was using, as it sounded like an true broadcast mic that one would hear on commercial broadcast stations. He said it was a CAD 'TRION'. It actually sounded better than the Electro-Voice RE-20 to my ear. The price is a bit cheaper than the Electro-Voice mic. This CAD mic lists for about $300; but I've seen it for as low as $178 on the 'net. Not a bad bang fer buck for that price - IMO. Just wondering if any serious DXers use this mic. The station I heard was "247 Central Mississippi".

You wouldn't believe this but I spoke to the same station yesterday at 11:45 PM my time and also asked what mic he was using. he announced the cad 6000 which you have displayed there. what a great sounding mic.

Funny thing that you brought this thread up, Drenalin. I just bought a ART Tube MP 'Project Series' preamp for my Icom rig. I'm presently using it with an Electro-Voice N/D 757 dynamic mic with the preamp now...

So, I have been starting to look into a nice condenser mic. I have 14 days to either keep this preamp - or use it twards another piece. I have been considering the T-1, T-47, or the B-2 Pro condenser mics from Behringer.

Got a used condenser mic today. A 'kick-butt deal' on a used MXL V88 large-capsule condenser mic. Got some great reports with it already on 10m. Its preferred design function is for musical instruments and broadcast use. I got it for $80 with the suspension - including tax. They sell for ~$200 new; so I feel I got a great deal and saved a great deal of money too. It works flawlessly with the ART tube preamp, the Heil mic cable, foot switch, and the Icom IC-718.

I had the chance to try out six condenser mics first before I purchased, but this one stood out head and shoulders above the rest.
