can you use a 70cm antenna for cb

Ok i got this nmo mount antenna mounted on my jeep. Well i drilled the hole and ran the coax, and then went to put the antenna on and before i did that i saw printed on the bottom of 402-512 and then i was like crap i dont think its gonna work. But i remembered back to when i just became a ham and the corporate radio shacks were getting rid of most of the ham stuff, they were selling a 5/8 wave for 2m and i remembered seeing other people using it for cb. So my question is will it work?

Plain and simple ? No. The UHF is 400 to 500 mhz. CB is at 27 mhz.
Let’s look at the length for the antenna at half wave using the magic number of 468.
Take 468 divided by 27.205 mhz (chn 20). This gives us an antenna length of half wave of 17 feet 2 inches.

Now 468 divided by 450 mhz. gives you 9.1 inch.
See that difference?

I'm a little confused. The title of the thread involves a 70cm antenna, then you talk about a 5/8λ for 2M, and finally CB. Just what antenna are you asking about? And since you have an amateur radio license, why not experiment and see if it "works" :sad: , or if it WORKS!! : ?
